Hammersmith Interview Skills Course - F2 preparation for ST1, MMC, GPSTP, GPVTS, Consultant interviews

Specialty Training Interview Skills

The Hammersmith Interview Skills course has become an essential part of doctors preparation for forthcoming interviews

Doctors preparing to enter the new speciality training grades at ST1, ST2 and ST3 are a part of the biggest ever recruitment exercise in the NHS. It will be extremely competitive for a number of reasons. Firstly, there is a 20% or so shortfall in the numbers of run through jobs available, and secondly as you will only be able to apply to 1:4, 4:1 or 2:2 geography:speciality the most popular specialities and regions will be heavily oversubscribed.

" You may not get the speciality you want. You may not get the geography you want" Prof. Shelley Heard, MMC Nov 2006

We have been training Doctors for SpR interviews, successfully, for years. We have now redesigned the course to ensure that you will be well prepared for the structured interviews and selection process. We will show you how to submit the best possible application form based on scoring criteria based on the person specifications that MMC are looking for - we know! We will show you how to handle structured interviews, how to answer difficult, searching questions about management, careers, training, relationships with colleagues and patients, in an interview-focussed way. We cover key communication and structuring skills for ensuring that you sound organised without sounding rehearsed.

"This is going to be very stressful; being well informed and prepared is crucial" Dr. Sarah Thomas, MMC Nov 2006

Over 80% of attendees come by recommendation - and that is why you should give yourself the advantage and ensure you are properly prepared for your next interview

Feedback

"I attended your course and two days later I had my very first interview for SPR post. I got the job and found the interview very enjoyable and relaxed. I was able to answer every single question confidently and concisely! At the end, the panel chair met me outside, walked me to the door, shook my hand and said, "Well done". I didn't bother to wait for the outcome of deliberations. "

"Your course was an invaluable asset and all the questions I was asked were on things we had covered. Thank you both for the excellent work. I recommend your course to all my colleagues."

"Dear Sirs, Just to let you know that I attended your course in January and found it extremely useful and practical in terms of what was expected of me. I always felt my interview skills were not up to scratch but certainly the course gave me plenty to think about before my SpR interview. I felt it armed me with more confidence and clarity of thought (especially for those tricky questions!). The result was a straight offer at my first attempt for an NTN in Gen Med/Rheumatology on the N.Thames rotation - the one I was hoping and praying for! Thanks again for your course. I will recommend it to anyone at the stage I was in when I attended. Take care and happy teaching! "
